NEA-Alaska Thanks Commissioner Dr. Michael Johnson for his Service
ANCHORAGE- Following Commissioner Dr. Michael Johnson’s retirement announcement, NEA-Alaska President, Tom Klaameyer issued the following statement.
“I want to thank Commissioner Johnson for his years of dedication and leadership in public education in Alaska. The Commissioner always considered the impact on the classroom first and foremost in informing his decisions and policy making. He was collaborative with all education stakeholders, sensitive to the needs of parents and the state, and worked as tirelessly as anyone to improve public education for all of Alaska’s students. His work will continue to impact our students far beyond his tenure through his
leadership in creating the Alaska Education Challenge and passage of the Alaska Reads Act. NEA-Alaska members will miss his presence, but wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
