Take Action to Raise the BSA

Statutory funding for public education hasn't been increased since 2017. During that same time period, inflation has eroded school district's ability to hire staff, provide competitive salary and benefits, and keep class sizes small. Now is our moment to tell the legislature and the governor to pass a permanent increase to the Base Student Allocation.

Take Action

Urge legislators to protect Alaska's students and maintain their commitment to our communities and schools:

The House has passed HB 69 with a 24-16 vote. This bill is a compromise, reducing the proposed education funding increase from $1,808 per student to $1,000 per student.

Now, there is concern that the Senate may lower the BSA in HB 69 even further.

We must act now to ensure senators understand that $1,000 is the minimum. We cannot accept anything less. HB 69, as passed by the House, already includes significant compromises and common-sense reforms. Now is the time to make our voices heard.
