Fall Event: Stronger Together will take place in Anchorage, on October 13-15.

This training will feature robust strands on topical issues impacting our members.

Strand Descriptions

LGBTQ+ Advocacy

This strand will be led by trainers from the National Education Association and will cover an introduction on how to create safe spaces for LGBTQ+ students, examine anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, and develop advocacy efforts and local plans to push back on discriminatory policies.

Advancing the Education Support Professions

This strand, designed specifically for ESP members will examine best practices for signing up members, providing professional development at the local level, utilizing the Professional Growth Continuum, and reviewing examples of success from other states.

Member Organizing and Growth

This strand will help local associations develop plans and engagement tactics to build member capacity. Sessions on utilizing data, holding events, and recruiting paid member organizers will all be offered.

A More Perfect Union

This strand will provide attendees with a robust background in union history, messaging strategies, and NEA-conducted research in signing up K-12 educators. Participants will leave with tools and resources to bring back to their locals.
