2026 NEA-Alaska Statewide Election You have a voice in your association.

Once a year, members have the opportunity to elect the leaders who will carry out our mission. From education policy to collective bargaining, it’s vital that we have strong leaders who advocate for all educators and students.

The nomination period is now closed for the 2026 Statewide Election.

NEA-Alaska President

This two-year term is the chief spokesperson and policy officer of the Association. The President presides over all meetings of the Association, Board Meetings and Delegate Assembly and also acts as Chair of the PACE committee. The President appoints members to committees, serves as a delegate to NEA Representative Assembly, an alternate NEA Director and an ex-officio member of all special committees. The President also monitors the expenses, evaluation and performance of the Executive Director.

Nominations open September 1 and will close at the end of the General Session on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

NEA-Alaska Vice President

This two-year term serves as an ex-officio member of all special committees, prepares written summary reports, may serve as an alternate NEA Director, and assists with PACE fundraising. This position also serves as a delegate to the NEA Representative Assembly, the elections coordinator, Chair of the Budget and Audit Committee and the Constitution and Bylaws Committee.

Nominations open September 1 and will close at the end of the General Session on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

NEA-Alaska Board of Directors

Each region is allocated one or more Regional Directors to serve on the NEA-Alaska Board of Directors. The duties of a Region Director include attending board meetings, Delegate Assembly and other NEA-Alaska events as requested by the President; facilitating communication between members, locals and the state association and about statewide issues, and approve committee appointments of the President.

Nominations open September 1 and close at Delegate Assembly currently scheduled for Friday, January 16, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.

NEA Representative Assembly State Delegates

NEA-Alaska allocates one or more delegates in each Region to attend the NEA Representative Assembly (RA). There are also two At-Large seats sponsored by the state. Duties of being a delegate to RA include attending all meetings of the state and the RA throughout the caucus. It is expected that each delegate will also assist in fundraising for the Political Action Committee (PAC).

Nominations open September 1 and close at Delegate Assembly currently scheduled for Saturday, January 17, 2026.

Regional PACE Committee Members

NEA-Alaska allocates one or more State PACE committee members who are elected in regional meetings at the Delegate Assembly. Please let your Local President and/or Region Director(s) know if you are interested in becoming a PACE Committee member.

Regions submit nominations for PACE at Delegate Assembly, currently scheduled for Saturday, January 17, 2026.

January 17:    DA closes and all nominations are due.

January 29:    Election opens at 12:00 pm.

February 8:    Election closes.

February 9:    Votes tallied.

February 16-18:    Board certifies the election.
